I started working on my resume and I am not sure where I should put this particular item. Long story short I work as a research assistant in a psychology lab. I have for 3 semesters now 2 of which were for credit and one was volunteer. There is no pay for anyone but you there is a lot of hands on work in lab setting. I am unsure of whether to put this is a work experience setting or under activities under education? I feel it is more than an activity but I dont know if its a work experience either. Any input would be so helpful!

I would put it under a generic "Experience" category, which would encompass all volunteer and paid work. Even if you got academic credit for it, the position itself is more like work than like class. Then under the header where you describe it with bullet points, you can qualify that 2 terms were for credit and 1 was volunteer.

I agree, definitely put it under experience (or at least that's where mine is listed currently).
