I received an associate degree from a community college and then a bachelor degree from a university. Should I include the associate degree on my resume?

I wouldn't. No need to point out that you went to a community college. Your resume should only be the good things... on the online application you have to fill out, you'll have to include it, but no reason to point it out at this stage in the game.

Leave it out. While it helps in admissions, a degree in general studies from CC can only hurt here.

If the AA didnt overlap with the BA, it would make sense to include it on an academic resume

To some people it just doesn't seem intellectual rigor... esp. not if you are going for some of those lofty firms that mostly hire from HYS/CCN

I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about. Plenty of people start out at CC's and then move to better schools for monetary reasons.

Including it would also explain why you attended a university for just two years.

Normally, unless you got your associates in something specifically related to the job/career you want, and which is unrelated to what you got your bachelors in, you do not include the associates. You'd list your bachelors. And there's no need to list the number of years you went to any school. You simply list your graduation year.

Exceptions to this would include you simply being darn proud of getting that associates and wanting to list it, or your having won special honors as part of that degree that you'd like to highlight. But in these cases, you'd put it on there because you wanted to, not because you have to.

I put everything on my resume (my degree granting UG, a CC I took summer classes at, and a International school that won't even surface on Google if you really try finding it). The lack of prestige did not hurt me one bit, I simply used those slots to help explain things on my transcript (i.e: Three "T"s which are credit-only and a Pass grade in a class that could not be graded). Being thorough never hurts, although if I had been rocking a 2.0 instead of a 4.0 at the CC, I may have hesitated.

If you're using the resume to apply for a job, don't bother with it unless the employer requires college transcripts. Some things are better kept a secret.

(If it's for a LS application, then I'd include it if there's room. They are getting your transcript anyway, so it won't be a surprise.)
