Should I listen to them if they used to be an admissions officer at a T14?

Usually no, but yours is obviously more qualified to give advice than most advisers. I would still read TLS to make sure their information is correct.

While your advisor may be better than most, keep your grain of salt handy. He/she might still be hamstrung by the institution-- I know from talking to prelaw advisors at my UG that they were not allowed to try to dissuade students from or influence them about TTTTs. So when a kid came in chatting about Florida Coastal, all they could say was "okay, let's work out how to get there..."

Prohibited from giving unbiased advice? That makes for a pretty useless position.

I know it probably won't be a Manhattan-tier prep class, but it's free and would count towards my degree. Should I take the class in the spring or will his potentially bad teaching mess up my LSAT mojo? I'd sit in on a class to see but he doesn't teach it in the fall. Started self-studying for the June 2014 test a few weeks ago, aiming for mid/high 170s.
Your school offers a for-credit LSAT prep course? WTF?

Definitely take that LSAT class. You were going to study for the LSAT anyway, might as well get school credit for it. You can

For certain, given the above. Who is it? (feel free to PM me, I likely know them and can give my 2 cents)
