Top Law Schools

Hi everyone, so law school has been something I've been putting off for the past 20 + years.

I graduated from Cornell with a degree in chemistry back in 1991, I had a 2.76 GPA. I took my LSAT score twice within the next 3-5 years with an 165 (1st time) and a 154 (2nd time). I didn't study or practice for either of them because I wasn't sure I wanted to do law school and thought I'd just try the exam.

I didn't apply for law school and roughly (give or take) about 3 years later took the LSAT again and got a 171. I took it again and got a 162 and then I got a 151, I think this was in 2007 (my lowest ever). Law school applications still didn't happen for me. My last LSAT score I took about 3 year ago in Februrary, I managed to get a 173. I'm thinking about doing my applications now because I recently just got laid off from Wells Fargo, I've been a teller there for about 3 years.

Do I need to take another LSAT exam or can I roll with my past scores and will all of them count?

Luckily for you, I think only your 173 will count.

Why do you want to be a lawyer? The legal market isn't doing that great right now.

You shouldn't retake, first of all historically when you do well you bomb the next one, and second of all 173 is above the 75th of all schools that might accept you.

Right. The others are over 5 years old, so they won't show up.

He worded it confusingly but if the most recent score is more than three years old will schools actually consider it? I thought it had to be taken within the last three years but maybe it's within the last five years?

I think it depends on the school.

For example,

Cornell wrote:We accept LSAT scores that are four years old.

Northwestern wrote:The Law School will accept scores up to 5 years after the test date

Yale wrote:You must take the LSAT no later than February 2013. The oldest score we will accept is October 2007. [That was the beginning of this cycle so 5 years.]

I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing those scores inconsistencies. What did you do after you graduated from an Ivy institution with a chem degree? A bank teller your whole life? Was/Is med school not an option? Pharm degree?

I'm dying the circumstances in this thread, this might be the only thread on TLS where "do NOT retake" is the credited group response. I'm basking in this

a 1 year post-bac in a med school almost always an option
