How much will being a veteran and having a congressional internship on my record help? I am trying to get into BYU, does anyone have experience?

Veteran > congressional internship.

Most softs don't matter much. Many schools (not sure about byu) focus mostly if not exclusively on GPA and LSAT, but military experience seems to be a soft that can help, rightly so.

Being a vet will help. But you still shouldnt expect to have a good chance anywhere unless you are at/above atleast one median.

As long as you're at least within BYU's 25th-75th percentile range, those softs will certainly make your application more attractive. Coming from personal experience (as if my username doesn't give it away), BYU takes a rather holistic approach with its law school admissions, although AdComms seem to look favorably on high GPAs. The median GPA is pretty high relative to BYU Law's U.S. News ranking, so as long as your softs accompany a great GPA, they will make your application stand out somewhat. Conversely, those softs are probably not sufficient to overcome a poor LSAT / GPA combo. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I am sitting at around a 3.6 right now from Arizona State University. Hope to bring that up to a 3.7 my last two semesters. Pretty much slacked my whole undergraduate career except for my upcoming senior year. This blows, never envisioned having a shot at a t-3 if I busted tail my collegiate career. BYU is a darn good school too! Hopefully I can get in!
