My LSAC gpa is higher than my actual gpa: Question.

Post by Chowfun » Mon May 20, 2013 8:13 pm

I calculated my gpa for LSAc and its a 3.79, and my gpa @ university is 3.75. I know it's not that much greater, but that .4 makes me feel so much better about my standing. I also am reaching for a 3.8 before I graduate. Now is this right? I calculated it over and over and the #'s haven't changed. Therefore, is this correct? Has anyone else experienced this?

If you followed their formula, sure.

We can't tell you if it's correct.. But it's not unheard of.

Congrats

I had a 0.3+ bump in my GPA with the LSAC calculations compared to my actual uGPA. I used the lawschoolpredictor lsac gpa calculator and it was pretty accurate. it might have to do with your uni giving out x.3's for plusses while LSAC gives x.33 for plusses. So if you have straight A+'s at a uni that gives out 4.3's then your LSAC gpa would be a 4.33.

Okay thanks you guys. My school doesn't give out A+s. I wish they did. I think my GPA would be so much higher. It does look like from what I remember is the B ad B+ are weighted higher. If not, it is something that the lsac weighs greater than my school.

This also happened to me. My UGPA is 3.8 and it looks like my LSAC GPA will be 3.85.

It doesn't matter if it's correct--you've been given a gift. Accept it and be happy.

Interesting, my undergrad institution (I use the term loosely) does not give +s or -s either. You get an A or a B, sounds like I need to pick up a transcript.

My LSAC GPA was .06 higher than my total GPA.

Not that it helped much, but I was happy it landed that way and not the other.
