yea there are CEOs with law degrees but its not exactly something thats at all realistic for a new grad.

Historically, Fortune 500s that discovered their CEO had a law degree immediately formed a tribunal and then beheaded them. It's not allowed bro.

It would be stupid to ask if it's possible to have a law degree and become a CEO or work on Wall St., so I'm guessing you're really asking if there's a reliable route from JD to CEO or wall st. The answer is no.

You can work on wallstreet with a bachelors degree. you can become a CEO with an MBA. No need to drop 150k and waste three years for that.

This could be true, but playing along is a little fun.
Mitt Romney has an HLS JD in addition to his HBS MBA. I guess he got the law degree because he thought he wanted to enter politics someday. I can't imagine it helped him at Bain.
Pat Robertson, the televangelist and adulterous media mogul has a degree from Yale Law School, so maybe that pathway is opened by a law degree too.

It really varies organization-to-organization. Some orgs have defacto walls which don't let someone onto the business side from the law side.
Other orgs have a lot of lawyers in the top of management, and in-house counsel is a pretty legitimate path to being at the top of the organization.
Some orgs like McKinsey are really friendly to JDs. Once you get in the door there, you are really in a good place to re-enter an org at VP level.
It really depends.
