UG course selection - how much does it matter?

I was pre-med in undergrad, with a humanities major. Obviously, there was no "pre-med" major. I did take all of those lovely courses however, Chemistry, Orgo, Bio, etc. My GPA obviously suffered as a result (3.75 major GPA, 3.52 LSAC GPA). My question - is course selection a "soft" of sorts? Or, did I take all of those rigorous courses for naught?

Yes. Law schools only care about the GPA plus (to a small, but at some places larger degree) the quality of the UG. Since you didn't finish with a major in a hard science you won't necessarily get the patent bump when you start looking for jobs, either. The good news is that you are just like almost everyone else. Work as hard as you can on getting that GPA up (even if it means taking joke classes, law schools don't care) and kill the LSAT.

Edit: for the patent thing it actually depends on your definition of humanities. If it was biology or chemistry or something like that, you'll still get the patent bump from OCI.

It really would seem to matter in only the tiniest of ways (if the near impossible scenario of a 100% numbers twin from your university or one of near identical standing was competing for a last spot with you with a significantly easier course load, but even then I'm inclined to think that the tie would be broken by softs or some other way... again, this will likely never happen).

As someone who went through the same classes, even if it gets answered 490 times, people will still ask. We want to believe that all the rough classes we went through will mean something now that we've decided to leave medicine/science, so we won't believe it until it's shouted in our face.

To OP - IT WON'T MATTER. Believe me, I know as a fellow ex-science person. It will help if you decide to go into patent law, however. But if you want to do that without a Master's/Doctorate, you need to head to a top law school.
