Effect of applications being down

Hey guys. I've been reading quite a bit about the fact that law school applications are at an all-time low. How do you think this will affect
law school admissions decisions? In our favor? Or against us?

It will be terrible for us. Law schools are going to see their applicants and just close outright.

You should probably use the forum search function or your common sense.

The TLS and correct answer is that admissions committees will lower their standards. We've already seen their standards relax last year.
How severely they do so will depend on how much schools lower their class sizes. If they aren't willing to, their numbers will lower. If they are willing to, their numbers may not suffer much.
The effect is that on average the applicant will get into a few more of his/her targets and will probably get into a reach.
TLS also predicts that you have a better chance of getting off the waitlist this year.
Also, at schools that are keen to maintain their numbers splitters will do better.

The interesting question is who is not applying anymore.

The 3.9's and 175 LSAT types that would rather not gamble on the roulette wheel who will instead get an MBA or do something else more lucrative. But for people like me, who have always wanted to be a lawyer, I unfornuately have to gamble. At least my gamble will be at a elite LS if I so choose to pursue this route.

That information has been posted on TLS as well as on LSAC's website numerous times. A lot of people with very high LSAT scores are choosing to not attend law school even though they have the least amount of risk due to their numbers. And the people with very bad numbers are continuing to apply to law school.

Why would they take the LSAT then?!?! Seems like an utter waste of time to me...

Here is a breakdown of the answer you are looking for since the ability to use the search function seems to escape you.
You're MBA and WE will have more effect on your cycle then declining apps. However, the effect is negligible:

The fact that you are Indian/Asian will have no effect on your cycle. You are not a URM bro.

And don't appeal a rejection. Suck it up and get over yourself. People get
rejected from law school everyday.

I would run through and list all the threads that popped up on a simple search of "declining applications" but I'm not that altruistic.

I am strapping up my "J's" right now. I am about to go ball on some fools on the hardwood. Otherwise, I would look it up. But seriously, a lot of peeps with high LSAT's are oping out of law school altogether.

Some of these people are the types that study for 50 hours and show up on test day and pull 170's.

The Thiller - Thanks for your help although I didn't request it. Much appreciated and sorry to take up so much of your time. I'm still not sure what this "search" function means. Perhaps I'll learn how to use it in law school.

They might not be simply opting out altogether; LSAT scores are valid for 5 years and that allows for people to wait a few years before applying/going to law school while figuring out if legal market is going to be worth the tuition and the three years.

Seriously if you're going to take the time to help don't be such a dick about it, some people don't get how these forums work entirely.

Some users think it's their duty to limit what they consider redundant threads even though it isn't their business.

Yeah, research ability using search is a good skill for a lawyer to have.

It'd be sweeter though if instead of WLing I could ask a forum for free and that forum wasn't comprised of cockbags.

Yeah. I just don't see the need to be such a douche. It doesn't affect him at all.
