Georgetown 'Preferred Waiting List'
They ask me to contact someone and let them know my level of interest in GULC? Is this just yield protection as I am above medians?

Things can change, but I've never known GULC to yield protect.

If they don't yield protect this would seem to be a giant bitch slap as to the quality of the rest of my application and an unfavorable sign as to the rest of the cycle. Only other response so far is in at NU.

Historically they have never done it. It doesn't mean there's something objectively wrong with your app (maybe someone just didn't like something?) but you might want to check over your submission on LSAC just incase.GoingForGold wrote:If they don't yield protect this would seem to be a giant bitch slap as to the quality of the rest of my application and an unfavorable sign as to the rest of the cycle. Also my alumni interview couldn't have gone better. Lasted for around an hour and he told me at end he was going to give me highest recommendation. It turned out that he had a personal interest in several ventures of mine and so we hit it off immediately. I am going to go ahead and LOCI them and see what happens here.

Hmm, you'd think GULC would want to gobble up that 176 of yours. That's bizarre. I'm honestly just as shocked as you are but even with your stellar numbers, alumni interviews are never indicative of admissions chances.

I had the same exact thing happen. Don't worry. You will get into better schools and this will be a distant memory.GoingForGold wrote:Also my alumni interview couldn't have gone better. I'm starting to think alumni interviews are done just to confirm that you won't be a complete embarrassment to the school if admitted.PRgradBYU wrote:Hmm, you'd think GULC would want to gobble up that 176 of yours. This year, GULC appears to be conducting a lot of group interviews with candidates over their 75ths (one or both).Historically they have never done it.
The group interview may be a form of YP.

Re: Georgetown 'Preferred Waiting List'
i'm over 7th%ile LSAT and over median GPA at Georgetown and got the same deal. Well, actually, mine says "a special group within our Preferred Waiting List". According to a friend of mine who's a 1L at GULC, that special group is almost always accepted and they just want you to express interest, and he was on that same special group of preferred waitlist last year too. Dunno if urs says the "special group" thing too.

For my group interview they just invited everyone in the area who was interested it seemed. The email I got stated that the interview was gonna be taking place, and they only have spots for a limited amount of people so first come first served.Big Dog wrote:This year, GULC appears to be conducting a lot of group interviews with candidates over their 75ths (one or both).Historically they have never done it.
