LOCI to Stanford: Could this be suicidal?

So I am thinking about sending a strong LOCI to Stanford which basically iterates that if accepted I will attend. I have been UR for roughly one month. Is this a terrible decision or does anybody support it?

With my numbers I feel like I need that extra boost to get me over the hump at Stanford. 170/3.8

Harsh criticism/ pleasant thoughts are appreciated!

I've been under review for 2.5 months. I'm writing one to send tomorrow.

Can you at least add value to your app at all?

Dude... 1 month is impatient

I haven't switched jobs since submitting, no big promotions or anything like that. Not in undergrad, so no new grades/awards. But I have been working out a lot, maybe I could tell them that my squat and bench press numbers are up!?

Really nothing amazing that they would care about...

In that case, I wouldn't send one in... yet. LOCI's are primarily a tool for updating your application with new info. They can totally be used to express a continued interest, but in the law school application game a month isn't a very long time.

To be clear, I don't think sending it will hurt you. I also don't believe it will help if there's nothing to add.

Txdude, are your numbers in your profile skewed lower for anonymity?

Don't do it, bro. Wait another couple weeks.

By the time it would make sense to send a LOCI, they'll already have sent out the WL, and you'll have a better idea of whether it'll make any difference.

I am not sure whether this is entirely true. Although the act of submitting a LOCI at this point when there is nothing new to tell Stanford about may not be harmful in and of itself, I think that it has the potential to be harmful in the long run. For example, if, after you send that LOCI, you get WL'ed, it will be harder to come up with something else to tell them that you haven't already said in the first LOCI, especially because it sounds like you don't plan on doing anything new that is worthy of mention between now and the fall. As the others have said, be patient and wait; it usually takes several months for schools to get back to applicants.
Thanks for your insight Regulus...very sensible logic

Why would you send a LOCI to one of the best schools on the planet after only a month of being under review? Do you really think that Stanfords primary concern about you and your 3.8/170 is that you won't attend if they accept you? LOL...

I'm sure this is how it would go down:

Flowbro: "Stanford I love you so much. You're the only girl for me baby. I know it's only been a month but we are just so right for each other. If you say yes, I will love you for a lifetime and settle in to your sweet embrace for sticker.. XOXO."

Stanford: "Oh Flowbro, you do go on! I was so worried that you didn't care! Now that I know I'm your one and only, and not those Harvard/Yale sluts, of course I'll be yours! Your seat deposit is due May 1st."

It's only been 1 month, so like others have reiterated, don't annoy them with an unnecessary LOCI.

Moreover, it's Stanford. They know you're continually interested. IT'S STANFORD.

I'd wait a few more weeks and try and find a good reason to send one in. Perhaps a volunteer position, a new promotion, a new award... something.
