Does getting waitlisted basically mean you'll be paying sticker for that school if you are taken off the waitlist and admitted?

No. Depends on your numbers and the school you're talking about.

Merit scholarships are pretty much out if you're WL'd but you may still qualify for need-based. This excludes HYS where there's no merit based and need based aid is very generous.

Not necessarily. Like the above poster said, it depends on the school and your numbers. It may be unlikely, especially if you have borderline numbers, but it's still possible. Example: Notre Dame handed out scholarships to people they accepted off their WL a few years ago.

OP, look around on LSN. Go to a school, its applicants tab, sort for status, go to waitlisted->accepted an voilĂ .

merit-based schollys off WL aren't that rare. I remember seeing UCLA doing it. I just saw that UChi did it. Then there are cases of YP; these dudes that get off obviously get massive schollys.

How realistic is negotiation a scholarship after being accepted from the waitlist? Has anyone had any success doing this, particularly from ucla?
