This study abroad program is available to every UC student (above a certain gpa threshold), and possibly to others as well, so it won't make you stand out much. If it sounds interesting and fun to you, definitely do it, but it's not a Rhodes Scholarship or anything. All things considered getting A+s in an easier study abroad program will probably help with admissions more, but IMO that's a shitty reason to choose where to spend a semester/year.

And just FYI, you should try to go for a year. Never met someone who wasn't glad they studied abroad for a whole year and met lots of people who regretted only going abroad for a semester.
