Not too late to apply, and not a stupid idea either. Applying this late may hurt chances, but numbers depending I'm sure there are still big schollies out there to give.
Mind if I ask, because I'm considering the school, why you don't like the area? Area is a huge concern of mine, 'case my wifey is a bit particular.
