Describing awards on resume

Should I add a description to awards with titles that aren't self-explanatory?
For example, I receieved a 'book award' for outstanding performance in a particular course: should I list only the award title or should I also add a description of the award (i.e. for outstanding performance in an upper-level government course)?

Just don't get too indulgent with your descriptions. I was a tutor/counselor in undergrad, and some of the resumes I proofread had insanely bigged-up accomplishments. One girl wrote a paragraph on making the Dean's List; she made it sound like the Nobel Prize.
