for example: applicant who attended cornell for undergrad, and applying to cornell law school.

This is a common question, and the overwhelming majority answer no, it does not matter. However, I am curious, why does it matter?

Gives you a big boost if you go to UM and suck at test-taking. (Or did they do away with that?)

georgetowns got an early decision type thing for their undergrads i know- bit sketchy on the details but the gist of it is if you want to go do law school and have done real well there in UG theyll accept you your junior year and you dont havta take the lsat

At Michigan? They did away with it. http://abovethelaw.com/2011/11/the-life ... s-program/

H and Y seem to give small boosts for their own. Been confirmed by several people from the data their UG collects that the median accepted student from these schools are below the schools' actual medians.

We have additional essays and an interview instead. That way, I can trap about 20 of the little bastards with high GPA’s that count and no LSAT score to count against my median. It is quite ingenious.

I think I got less $$$ than I should have from my UG's law school because they already knew I liked them. 100% speculatory (with a dash of bitter Betty) so YMMlikelyV.

At ND, I think they won't YP Domers with good stats. It won't help you get in if you're below both medians though.

I'm almost positive that for UTexas, it may even hurt you if you went to UT as an undergrad (or so the rumor goes around campus, anyway). Mostly because they only take a small percentage of "their own" into their law school, and cap it off. So they review these apps with caution. Again, all speculation from current/former students (who applied and got rejected/accepted). It just depends on where you go as an undergrad, though.

I've heard the same thing about UT, seems odd to me. Hopefully doesnt affect my chances at admission :(

I'd say it doesn't affect it too much, honestly. It just seems like a tiny factor they take into consideration. It's the same thing with their grad school. They're really picky with how many of their own undergrads they take into their grad programs and law school, which I find so incredibly frustrating.

i think i can understand for state schools, especially the ones with decent law schools, given the cheaper in-state tuition.

i'm sure there are a huge number of applicants from UT who would also love attending their law schools, so it makes sense that they don't want half of their incoming class to consist of former UT-Austin grads.

Anecdotal, but the handful of people I know who were admitted to ASU from ASU UG were pretty extreme reverse-splitters.
