How concerned should I be? early results of my cycle...

170 and slightly under 3.7. So far, PR at Duke and held at Cornell. In fairness, I was accepted to Cornell last year but chose not to attend in favor of reapplying to schools this cycle. Maybe Cornell is holding that against me?

I also applied to Michigan, Northwestern, NYU, and Penn, but am still waiting to hear. Without going into specifics, I do have a bit of a resume gap, and my softs are probably average/below average. Are these early responses a good indication that I will underperform my numbers? Am I in trouble considering my pending applications are at schools with admissions standards at least as stringent as Cornell/Duke?

Do I switch my Penn app to ED in light of this new information? Or do I figure I will eventually get in somewhere and maybe with money even if I have to ride some WLs?

Honestly a tough question. I do not think switching to ED Penn is a "bad" idea if you truly want Penn. But I see you getting into Mich and NU, toss up Penn RD, and WL at NYU. (I am unsure the most about my NYU and Penn RD predictions)

I basically have the same exact stats. I think you have a great shot at Michigan and possibly UVA, and a solid chance at Penn as well (at least I'm hoping, for my own sake as well). If you didn't submit any of the supplemental essays, maybe start working on those to send in. I got into Duke and wrote a Why Duke; perhaps that made some of the difference.

In regard to the Duke PR, you should check out the Duke thread on Acceptances/WLs/Denials. Looking at TLS and LSN, there doesn't seem to be a very clear pattern as to who is getting PRd (and there are also questions about what PR ultimately means). If I were you, I wouldn't read too much into this particular outcome.

Br3v's predictions for each school seem reasonable. With your stats, you should get into at least one of MVP.
