Do law schools see my numerical grade on my transcript?

Post by mvonh001 » Mon Dec 03, 2012 3:01 pm

Do law schools that receive my transcript see a numerical grade or just the letter assigned by the school? I ask because i have gotten a A+ by the LSAC GPA standard but my school doesn't acknowledge A+'s. Any help would be great thanks.

Law schools don't care whether you would have gotten an A+ if only your school used a different grading system. All that matters is your GPA as reported by LSAC.

So your school does not give A+'s, but your LSAC GPA is above 4.0? How could that happen? Did you also have study abroad or community college transcripts that included A+'s?

No, i apologize, let me rephrase my question...

I have received a 98 in my class at my school that does not give A+'s, I want to know if the LSAC will see that I got a 98 and therefore give me a 4.33 on my LSAC GPA for that course, OR if they will only see that I got an A and give me a 4.0??

Thanks, sorry for the confusion.

As already stated, LSAC recalculates so that if your transcript says "A" you get a 4.0 and if it says "A+" you get a 4.33

Also, I think at most schools an A+ is 100% or above (or the top student in the class if the class is large enough); at least that's how it has been in my undergrad classes

Law schools see a scanned copy of your actual transcript. What LSAC does to the grades is a different question, answered correctly above. So your LSAC GPA "is what it is", but we will see the grades your school gave you, too.
