Top Law Schools

Hey all,

I went to college about 9 years ago and acted like a jackass. I drank instead of going to class and bombed a bunch of classes. After spinning my wheels I joined the military. Since then I've attended college and will finish with a B.S. in Accounting next fall. My GPA at my current school is 3.5 and I imagine it will stay that way or go up.

Given that I don't mind going to a T3 or T4 school (the military is picking up the tuition and I have zero interest in big law) how much will a 5 year old (most recent classes before college) F hurt me? If I write a 170 LSAT do I have a shot at any school?

your cumulative gpa won't be a 3.5. it'll include your grades from college nine years ago, so you have to factor in those grades.

let's say your gpa averages out to a 2.7... i still think that you'll get into a t3 or t4 school, even with a 155+ lsat.

And, write an addendum. If you get your LSAT up, you may be able to work your way in as a non-traditional applicant at better schools than you think, especially as less and less people apply to law school.

If your GPA ends up in the high 2.x, low 3.x range, get an LSAT above 172 and apply to Northwestern. Don't settle for a TTT or worse.

ED to a solid regional school wherever you have ties if the military will pick up all your tuition. The way things are going for T1/T2 schools lately, they'll be happy to take a 2.7~ and a 166+ LSAT.
