Which applicant would adcoms prefer, solely based on GPAs?
Applicant #1: 3.3 GPA (Ivy League School), similar LSAT as #2
Applicant #2: 3.8 GPA (State University - not Berk, UCLA, Mich, UVA), with similar LSAT
Thx.

The higher GPA. If the GPAs were more similar, prestige of UG would be a tiebreaker among others (PS, LORs, softs).

imo, pretty ridiculous...
i didn't have to try hard at all for a 3.8+ at my state school, but once i got into an ivy, had to work my butt off for a 3.3.

That's tough to analyze. The average graduating gpa at the ivy league is between 3.4-3.6. The average graduating gpa at the average state school it below 3.0. For that reason, people who attend ivy league schools are dramatically more likely to have higher gpas - it's why many of the tip top law schools are full of ivy leagues or the equivalent. It's not so much that they are smarter or anything like that; those schools significantly inflate grades.

Yeah, they don't care what you think. It's called USNWR.

(doesn't understand grade inflation)

#2.
Also, when you submit your transcript to LSAC, you get a summary report of your schools statistics for those who are applying to LS.
TLS put some of these into a google doc file at some point.
Ivies/Respected state schools all had 3.5/6+s
My TTT avg was like a 3.2
Not saying Ivy students don't work harder on average (probably), but quit ya complaining.

Not really.
GPA is only ~half of the equation. The other ~half is test scores, and the Ivies and their equivalents corner the market on top test takers. There is a reason that H undergrads have the mean highest lsat score, with Y a close second. The top tier colleges screen out low test-taking students in their undergrad admissions process.
