LSAT Score Jump Addendum

I have a good problem - I jumped up ~12 points from my first test.
I was originally planning on not sending any and letting my score speak for itself. But I noticed that certain schools like Penn, UVa, and Michigan recommend sending an addendum for score jumps. I should be sending one for these, right? Previous threads seemed to be 50/50 on whether it made a difference or not.

FWIW, I tested in Sept 2007, retested in Feb 2012 with 4 pt jump, then retested in Oct 2012 with total of 11 point jump, and I have decided not to send in an addendum. I assume they'll know the one more than 5 years old isn't representative of my abilities. Also, I don't have a good excuse. "I discovered TLS forum after the February test and realized I could study for the LSAT" seems pretty lame.

Do you have a reason for the 12 point jump? If you have a valid reason then an addendum can't hurt. Just my two-cents though.

I went up 12 points and didn't send one. May be why I got rejected from Penn, UVA and Michigan.

Tiago, did you write Why <>? for the three schools?

I did. Especially at Penn and Virginia, you'll have a good idea of whether YP is a possibility based on your numbers. 170/3.5 probably gets into Penn, while 180/3.5 probably gets waitlisted. But writing a Why Essay isn't very hard and since these schools apparently like seeing them it's worth it to toss one in with your app.
