The definition is arbitrary. Non-traditional students typically do not proceed straight from undergrad to grad school. I would assume that if you take some time off between the two aside from a glide year for LSAT/MCAT, you are no longer a traditional student. This is especially the case if you are working in a full-time capacity.

I'm the same age and I haven't been selecting non-traditional. Mainly because I'm a white male WASP from a middle-class nuclear family in the northeast and trying to claim some kind of minority status just seems silly and border-line offensive. On the other hand, I emphasize my work experience and "maturity" in my personal statement and any supplemental statements that seem appropriate.
