I see on most resumes people put something like

Deans Honors List (every semester).


Problem for me is that I have intermittent gaps where I didn't make the deans list. How do I rectify that?

I displayed it like so:

Dean’s Honor List: Fall 2008, Spring 2009, Fall 2009, Winter 2010 and Spring 2010 for earning a 3.75 grade-point average in any one term with at least 12 graded units and no grade of NP.

Boalt/Michigan/NYU spoke at UCLA and basically all suggested the same thing:

Name of Award/Honor + Date Earned + The GPA cutoff/requirements

Crap, it didn't even occur to me until this thread to go looking for what the Dean's List requirements were. I just wrote something vague on my applications like "for academic achievement." Hopefully just saying Dean's List and being from a good school (with a good GPA) will be sufficient.

You don't need to have that. I didn't and it was fine. Everyone knows what Dean's List is.

If someone wants to elaborate, it definitely won't hurt, but not having it isn't a big deal at all.

Apparently your school has higher standards though. My school's minimum gpa is 3.5, not 3.7. Maybe the difference can be explained quarter system vs. semester system?

Is this in addition to putting any latin honors from undergrad? I feel like it would be redundant.

I don't think so, at least not at my UG school. Latin honors had a minimum GPA for each level, but there was also some discretion on the part of your major department as to what honors you were granted. Also, making Dean's List every semester would show consistency, whereas you could theoretically have a few bad semesters and still manage a high enough average over the four years to get Latin honors.

I'm fairly confident UCLA wanted to make us feel like shit at every turn. One of my departments actually had rules against issuing A+'s... something I really wish was not true in regards to LSAC GPAs. But such is life.
