Applying after Thanksgiving?

I understand that it's best to apply before Thanksgiving. But it doesn't look like I'll be able to get my apps in before then, since I'm struggling with my PS. I know Yale tries to minimize the effects of applying at different times. But will this affect my chances at other schools, or even there?

If it helps to answer, I'm borderline for a few schools (about 50/50 statistical chance). Will the extra few days early help me very much?

Not half as much as a retake
Advice tends to go both ways as to whether or not it's a problem to apply late. If you're borderline you'll probably be riding out waitlists either way, so don't sweat it

Alright, thanks. I didn't want to rush my PS so that's good news.

For Yale, does applying late hurt at all?
I keep hearing they don't start accepting apps until the submission deadline is over.
Would be great to not worry about the 250 until I'm done with every other school.

I know they try to minimize the effects of applying late as much as possible. But I can't imagine them completely succeeding, considering that a spot given out is one spot less, and spots are given out on a (semi)rolling basis. Still, I plan on finishing my PS and sending every app out except Yale, and then doing the 250.

That's exactly what I'm doing. From my experience so far, it's a lot easier to focus on your 250s once everything else is done. Still doesn't make it easy though.
