We, as a society, have decided that this is not optimal, and giving priority to URM law school applicants is one way we try to change that dynamic. While you may feel that this solution disadvantages you unfairly, it is meant to combat a whole host of unfair (and much more insidious) disadvantages faced by minority communities in this country. I don't think anyone would say it's a perfect solution, but a perfect solution probably doesn't exist.

This is not unique to TLS. It's a touchy subject for pretty obvious reasons.be(au)ar wrote:kind of ridiculous how race/ethnicity is the third-rail of TLS forums
This argument is flawed because it assumes that URMs not allotted the same resources as the traditionally more priviledged white students do not have the same scores because they are underachievers, rather than because of a lack of resources and opportunities.be(au)ar wrote:slawww wrote:Well, you clearly are ignorant. Right, and putting under-achieving URM's in a class full of Harvard or Yale law students is surely doing the system justice. I agree URM's need to be well represented in law school, but I don't think they should be given such a significant boost when it comes to the top law schools. And with your personal jab, I ask you to resort to my earlier comment, bud.
