Where did you find this?wert3813 wrote:Umm this is just factually inaccurate.rebexness wrote:Your LSAT score is below median at all of the Top 6. The GPA will be unlikely to overcome that.
I would study and retake June or Feb.
Stanford's median in 170.
Also possible that NYU's median fell to 171...wert3813 wrote:Umm this is just factually inaccurate.rebexness wrote:Your LSAT score is below median at all of the Top 6. The GPA will be unlikely to overcome that.

Stanford's median in 170. U of C's is 171.

Safe to assume medians fell since then a tad at least.
Currently your chances are decent at CCN and slim at HYS, and certainly not guaranteed IN at any of them. This is beside the point.1) what are my current chances at t6, given that i have pretty weak softs (director of the debate team, legal clinical experience, research experience, probably middling recommendations, maybe something consulting-related in the upcoming summer)
2) is there a risk to retaking the lsat and receiving a score that's either the same or only two points higher? like is a 171/172 retake worse than a 171?
Chicago is out: 171rebexness wrote:Medians are out for:wert3813 wrote:

Y-173
S-not out
H- 25 170, 75 175
C-172
C-not out
N-25 169, 75 173
So....Maybe at median for Chi/NYU.

The real issue is to retake or not to retake? To answer this you must ask yourself two questions:
1. What do I have to gain?
- EVERYTHING
- Just a minor point gain (even +1) would help you tremendously but putting you over some medians helping you get IN.
- Every point you bump up improves your likelihood of receiving scholarship $$$$ EXPONENTIALLY
- Basically, each point on the LSAT is worth tens of thousands of dollars (scholly) in addition to the long-term opportunities offered by going to a badass school.
- Just picture how much more competitive you'd be with a 175/3.9 vs 171/3.9.... ($$$$)
2. What do I have to lose?
- NOTHING
- (basically just your time and $160, which is well worth it)
Do the math dude. Schools only take your highest score. You can pay a $160 registration fee to have an extremely good chance (considering your PT avg) of winning hundreds of thousands, plus entrance to the schools of your dreams. There is absolutely NO justification not to retake, it would be utterly idiotic to waste the opportunity. If you don't improve on your 2nd try take it a 3rd time! Seriously.
To answer your second question, a 171/172 is EXPONENTIALLY BETTER than a 171 alone. Schools take ONLY YOUR HIGHEST SCORE, and the difference between a 171 and a 172 is the difference between Helping CLS/NYU's median and hurting it. Once again, do the math.
Retake, Retake, Retake.
You will get into NYU, at the very least.turtles wrote:1) what are my current chances at t6, given that i have pretty weak softs (director of the debate team, legal clinical experience, research experience, probably middling recommendations, maybe something consulting-related in the upcoming summer)
