UVA at sticker

I want to work big law, but is UVA at sticker worth it? In contrast to in-state tuition at ASU with good chance for potential scholarships.

The T6, Penn, and NU being the ones I refer to that are arguably better deals for big law. Considering the University funded jobs and the mediocre job stats, UVA at sticker is certainly a gamble.FattyMcFatFat wrote:Whoawhoawhoa. Although it depends on your definition of the word "many," I do not think it is true that UVA is a more dangerous bet than "many" of the T14. Sticker outsideYS is arguably dangerous though.H
This is very 0Lish. The NLJ250 numbers between UVA, Duke, and NYU are within 1% of each other. I would also be willing to bet that job outcomes for UVA grads with work experience is on par with that of NU grads. TLS has tunnel vision when it comes to employment numbers for a lot of schools. Most of the "heat" on UVA has been the fact that the school did employ fund 17% of students from the most recent graduating class. Of course that ignores the fact that Chicago, NYU, and Cornell all had a school funded rate ~12%.NoodleyOne wrote:The T6, Penn, and NU being the ones I refer to that are arguably better deals for big law. Also, I think Noodleyone might be pretending that one or two years of data paints and accurate long-run picture of employment prospects.UVAIce wrote:This is very 0Lish. That all being said, I attend UVA Law and would not recommend attending at sticker price - especially if you are out of state. But I also think it is foolish to simply say "T6" and up are good to go bro! Think about what your credentials are before law school and where you realistically want to practice law.
Roughly on point:Charlie.Home wrote:I appreciate the comments thus far, but I was trying to compare UVA sticker with schools in the T30-T20 range with greatly discounted tuition. I want to work big law, so please take that in to consideration.
I might be overstating the case somewhat, I'll admit. To be fair I also didn't say it's T6 thumbs up, though. Maybe it's my proximity to UVA and my dislike of them juking the stats, but I do view them distinctly below many of the other top schools.FattyMcFatFat wrote:I was going to respond, but then I realized this pretty much sums it up:Also, I think Noodleyone might be pretending that one or two years of data paints and accurate long-run picture of employment prospects.UVAIce wrote:This is very 0Lish. I think ASU only hands out a few full-rides each year. There isn't a large scholly endowment.Lawquacious wrote:How is the comparison UVA at sticker v. ASU with only the possibility of money? I think UVA is the better choice unless you pretty much get a full-ride at ASU. Even then UVA gives a exponential advantage over ASU in terms of big law, although the reduced COA at ASU would help mitigate the likelihood you won't get biglaw from ASU.
