Applying to Law School Question?

I am currently applying to law school. I am adamant about Practicing Law in California upon passing the Bar exam. I've heard from various sources (friends, family members, practicing lawyers) that it is best to attend the law school in the state that you would like to practice law in.

I've heard many stories of students attending top law schools in the east coast such as Chicago, NYU and etc, but unable to find jobs after relocating back to California.

Would it make sense to pass up going to a law school such as Chicago, Duke, Notre Dame to go to a law school in California such as USC, Loyola, Pepperdine, UCLA or Hastings?

Notre Dame is not a regional school. Notre Dame clearly is huge in Chicago, but also in Washington, D.C.

But for CA, go to a CA school.

Correct, ND is not regional. However, placing poorly nationwide is about equal to placing poorly in a specific region.
