Do letters of recommendation have to be from faculty members/teachers?

I have three letter of recommendations...one from an employee who i worked for at NASA, another from an employee, who is a Patent Lawyer, that i worked for at a financial services firm, and another from my college sport's coach.

I had a hard time obtaining letter of rec's from faculty member, but i know that my coach spoke on my academic ability as I had the highest GPA on my team all three years.

My letter of rec's are quite diverse, but will it hurt me if most of them aren't from teachers?

No, they do not have to be from teachers/professors. Employers provide great LORs.

I think it depends on how long you've been out of school. Yale, for instance, uses pretty strong language to urge applicants to get letters from professors. From what I've gathered, schools prefer professor letters, but employers are okay if you've been out of school for a while. Employers who can say something about your intellectual abilities are preferred.
