So I did a calculation for my LSAC GPA and it dropped to a 3.68 or 3.81 from a 3.95 (what I have at my college).

Will an addendum be able to persuade admissions that the 3.95 is more indicative of my ability? All of the "Bs" that I received were in my first year at a different school. The one class I withdrew from (I am not sure of this, but that is where the .13 drop comes in) was because I came down with mono and was so sick I had to get IVs for two straight days, or else I'd have been dehydrated. Finally, my school doesn't give out "A+" grades, only As, and if it did give out the "A+", I'd be well over a 4.

How bad does this hurt my chances? I was thinking I'd have a real shot at top 5 schools with a score in the 170s

I hope that's sarcasm, because in no way would I consider Cooley.

Anything else, barring incredible soft factors like Olympic medals, is just a tiebreaker.

Your GPA is 3.68 or 3.81, not 3.95. If you attended two undergraduate schools, you can't count only one of them as your real GPA.

I understand that. My main reason for an addendum would be explaining would be to explain the drop to 3.68. A 3.81 still makes me competitive most anywhere.

There isn't a drop? Your GPA is whatever they calculated. What you have sounds like a strong upward trend in your grades. A lot of applicants will have something like this, and it's a soft just like anything else. It isn't going to make you competitive with others who have a 3.95 or 3.81, but it will make you look slightly better (all things equal) with someone else who has a 3.68.
