Personal Reference Letter?

I had two letters from 2010 while I was still in undergrad (graduated 5/2011) and I have 1 from another undergrad professor that was written and submitted to LSAC in March of this year.
It didn't occur to me that the 2010 letters would be too old to be used for this cycle until an advisor mentioned off-hand that they're only good for a year and now I'm feeling like a complete idiot for not realizing that sooner.
I worked as a temp paralegal at a large corporate firm for a few months and wanted to ask one of my supervising attorneys's for a letter, which they're glad to do. However, due to company policy about only verifying payroll, the letter can't be on letterhead/on behalf of the firm and they would only be able to write a personal reference.
Is that acceptable of does it have to be something more official?
