LSAC didn't count my community college?

In my academic summary by LSAC, my community college GPA was not calculated nor included in the cumulative GPA. Any idea as to why this would happen?

The correct answer is nearly always to call LSAC, because we are not psychic.

Have your requested the transcript be sent by the CC to LSAC?

I did, but I figured I would ask in case anyone else had experienced it and had insight.

Ya, it's received.

For future readers, the issue was due to the school the transcript is from.

What was the problem with the school?

The way in which credits are calculated by the school results in a grade that LSAC doesn't consider in the cGPA. Specifically, it's an issue of something (I don't know what) missing from the transcsript that is needed by LSAC. I don't mind however, since it was actually pulling my GPA down.

Its just nonsense.
What is a "top 50 school"?

And isn't this tantamount to saying that LSAC should take into account the difficulty of all professors? I had more than a few professors at my CC who routinely gave out fewer than 2 or 3 A's in a class of 20-30 people because they wanted to combat the perception that CC isn't difficult. There is also a lot less hand-holding and other support from the school that you get at "better," more expensive schools.

Cc crowd comes out swinging. Let's be honest there's a very real and significant difference in that 20-30-x class than any thing that is at least ranked by all be it a flawed system.

I also took some classes at a cc they were a joke. And yep. There was a limit of As handed out But at my regular school I'm not sitting next to 10 kids who couldn't get a 1000 on their SAT.

I just think its absolutely ridiculous. If kids fe
Wow you sound like a total asshole. That said, my grades from community college were shit and I had a 4.0 at my university, so I agree with you that LSAC shouldn't count community college grades

Not true. These boards are full of people, myself included, who did horribly at CC. I was working full time +, and so were most of my classmates. The amount of effort I saw at that school far surpasses anything I've seen at my UG.

The SAT is not a very good indicator of intelligence or performance in school.
ddacey wrote: I just think its absolutely ridiculous. If kids from these ranked schools took solely cc classes they would all have 4.0s.
Gross assumptions on so many levels. Every major, every course, every professor is different.
ddacey wrote: I know my hand was not held at all doubt many schools do do that I think that's an excuse you have to beef up something that you want to and feel need to.

Are you saying that a kid who solely took classes at cc whereas a MIT or cal tech kid who's gpa is a half point lower. Their gpas should be looked as as solely a number? Because that's what this system boils it down to. I think that's absurd.
First of all, very few people will take all of their courses at a community college. Second, schools do compensate (albeit not much) for good majors at good schools. And that is valid. However, claiming that a political science major at Columbia should have a lower bar, GPA-wise, than a political science major who started at community college just because you speculate that classes at Columbia are easier doesn't really make sense.

Most people who choose to go to community colleges either were bad students in high school, had extenuating circumstances or lacked the resources and stability in high school that would afford them the opportunity to go to a highly ranked university. If that student was able to complete a full 4 year university AND do well enough on the LSAT that they are competing with kids from elite universities for T14 admittance, then they should be commended, not punished.

What, u mad cause you thought you could just lean on the reputation of your middling school to get you ahead?

But there's a better place to have this argument and it's not in this thread which Ive rudely derailed. Sorry original Poster. I will no longer post here.
What is this? I don't even....

You don't write like someone who went to a "top 50" undergrad. The above quote is barely intelligible. Before you go into law, a reading and writing intensive endeavor, I suggest you get some serious help with writing.

There are a lot of real injustices in the way GPA is used in law school admission. They count all majors essentially the same. They count grades from community college classes you took while you were in high school or when you were young and stupid despite the fact that you have years of 4.0s at the end of your college career. Worry about those.

Oh, and I went to HYPS so no community college here. I'm just calling you out for being a tool.

Credited. Judging from the ivy league alums at my school, this probably includes whatever fancy ug someone might think makes them special.

Yea, it stinks, but there's no alternative besides arbitrarily ranking every school, major, class, professor, TA, etc etc. That's why we have the LSAT. The people getitng 4.0s at CC are very rarely getting 170+ on the LSAT and if they do, then they probably could have done well at a top 50 school.

they should not look at your academic performance when you were 17-19 because many people are very immature, or trying to figure out if school is for them or not. But they do, and thats how it goes.

I'm glad NU extends this window to 22.
