Cornell's e-app (7.Education) asks to decribe awards received.
1.For ** scholarship, should I describe it as "academic scholarship"?
The scholarship covers a year, but the question asks for the term it was received.
2. Should I put in a moot court competitioin prize and a prize duirng a legal workshop ( given that they are already covered in the resume)? If so, how to describe it?"competition prize"?

Sure, include them...

Include both, and describe the scholarship however you want. I think I put something like:

Chancellor's Scholar (full-tuition scholarship, 2007-2011)
John Doe Basket-Weaving Award (academic scholarship, 2010-2011)

It doesn't matter, but just make sure it's clear what the award was because many don't make sense to someone unfamiliar with your undergrad.

The questions are "awarded to you", so I should not mention awards that are given to a team I was in? Such as best memo prize for a moot court competition?

If you were on the team, you got the award. List it.
