PoliSci is your best bet IMO. Stay away from philosophy unless you know the prof hands out A's.SaintsTheMetal wrote:Yes, if you're sure about law school, take nothing but retarded easy classes you know you will get an A in. Polysci/basketweaving/sociology/whatever liberal art major classes usually fit this bill. No one cares what classes you took unfortunately.
Yes, no philosophy...it was brutal and professors were mean...shadowofjazz wrote:PoliSci is your best bet IMO. It amazes me that people who get paid good money to guide college students through important life decisions can be so consistently and willfully misinformed.OutOfTheQuestion wrote:Also, an academic advisor once told me that law schools only consider the GPA from your major's course work? This doesn't sound accurate, but I thought I would ask.
Wasn't brutal or mean for me...but if I had switched from Biochemistry/Molecular Biology to PoliSci instead of to Philosophy, I'm pretty sure I'd have a much higher GPA than a 3.1X right now (I'm also pretty sure I would have been more bored - Philosophy is engaging, just not good for your GPA).lovejopd wrote:Yes, no philosophy...it was brutal and professors were mean...shadowofjazz wrote:PoliSci is your best bet IMO. Yeah, I decided on political science for that reason. I originally wanted to do a PolySci/Economics/Philosophy major that we have at my school, but after reading about the law school admission numbers game, I changed my mind.PoliSci is your best bet IMO. 3.46 through my first year. I definitely recognize I'm going to have to do better than that though. Luckily I'm sure about law school this early, so I haven't dug myself a grave yet. What's your GPA?
Agreed! This forum has been very helpful, while my advisor has literally only provided me with incorrect information. It amazes me that people who get paid good money to guide college students through important life decisions can be so consistently and willfully misinformed.
Pre-Law advisors at nearly every university should be replaced by a computer tabbed to TLS.
