So I have this friend at a TTTT...oh lord.

Yes. A Tier4. Not even a TTT. But an extra T.
It's bad enough that she's attending the place. What's worse is she's posting pictures of her lecture or textbook and updating her Twitter every other day with hashtags like #BlessedToBeHere, #InTheZone, #DreamsComeTrue, #top-law-schools.com, #Amazing
Like...seriously? A long time ago I told her about the dangers of attending a crap school. She, of course, always responded skeptically with a, "Are you surrrrrrrrre? There's no way that could happen." Watching these updates is almost like watching someone cluelessly heading toward their doom. Should I say something to her?

If you have already warned her once, there's no need to warn her again. She's obviously not too keen on taking good advice.

She sounds like she's having a wonderful time. Doubtful there's anything you can say that would be particularly helpful.

I'd say just let her be happy for this short period longer. Clueless? Definitely. But damage is done, all you can do is just watch it all unfold.

This is so sad though. She's more of an acquaintance than a good friend, but still, I know her and she's a good person, so it's just sad to see the disaster in 3 years when she's 200k in debt and can't even find a job. You hate to see these things happen to people you actually KNOW.

I wonder how true this is. Are there a healthy sized group of people coming out of TTTTs and TTTs with a job because they know someone? If nothing else it seems to be very limiting way to plan out your future "I'm going to go to a school with terrible job prospects on the assumption that the people I know who may help me now will definitely be able and willing to help me later".

For TTTT students, it is all about connections, because that's the only path to employment. Unfortunately, people usually overestimate the value and efficacy of their connections or think that it's easy to network into a job.

I met a young lady in a class last year (her last class, no less). She only applied to four schools: U of M, MSU, Wayne State, and U of D Mercy. She was rejected at the first two and accepted to the last two. She decided upon Wayne State.
Because our relationship had developed past friendship (i.e. I smanged her), I begged her to reconsider and retake the LSAT. I linked her to law school transparency and provided her with information on the job market for lawyers. She was not dumb, but she refused to listen to reason and she hadn't even started yet. For every valid and reasonable comment I had, she would reply with:
"It's all about connections. It's who you know."
Though this may be anecdotal, I would hazard a guess that this scenario plays out more often than "oh, thanks for helping me out and educating me".
If it makes you feel less guilty, give it a shot, but I wouldn't hope for much.
Definitely had to urbandictionary "smanged." +1 just for the edification.

Somehow convince her to peruse these forums for a few hours. That should be enough.

FWIW, also anecdotal, I am from Detroit and know 5-10 people who have graduated from Wayne in the past two years or will be graduated in the next two years, and they all have solid jobs or job offers (which are pretty much based on who they know, which isn't a horrible strategy in Detroit from my own personal experience...)
So while the OP's friend most likely has gotten herself into a shitty situation, sometimes it really is about who you know and all you have to do is manage to pass the bar. And if you don't know anyone...then you better go to a good school.

Of course it is true. This is how the real world has always and will always work. All of my friends and acquaintances with great jobs got those jobs via connections. It fascinates the hell out of me that law students don't get this. The way biglaw hires, however, is an exception to this general rule.
Also, if you ever make partner for a firm or have your own, not thinking this sort of thing matters is going to pretty much kill your chances of success. Firms make all their money by bringing in clients. Bringing in clients is a result of having lots of connections and referrals.

That is absolutely terrifying.

Thank god for TLS.

While t3 or 4 Schools are almost certainly bad bets, a person making the same sorts of comments op views so cynically can also end up with egg on their faces after attending a t25, T1, or t2 school. The odds are better, but IMO it is comical to see anyone shout about being blessed to have the opportunity to take on 6 figure loans and end up unemployed, underemployed, or employed doing something they realize they hate--because few people who go into this line of work, big law or otherwise, actually end up enjoying it.
IMO

This. Outside of the t14, many "higher ranked schools" are not much better. My favorite would be an American University graduate commenting on someone at a TTT. lol no bro, your employment stats are worse than even a lot of TTTs...at least according to ABA placement data and law school transparency.

I saw three people in my undergrad enroll in law school this year (Brooklyn Law, NYLS, and Villanova)
My question is...what percentage of law applicants are uninformed about the actual process of law employment? It shocked me that I knew more about recruitment and statistics than some 1L's and 2L's who are my friends.
Even crazier, when I brought up TLS, the 2L didn't even know what it was...how the hell do you apply to law school without TLS??!!

I was talking to a one L at my local TTT and he literally said the phrase "I don't look ithat careers that much." What do you think about then?

How did socially retarded law students make fun of non-socially retarded law students before the internet?

You can be "non-socially retarded" and not make fucking stupid, information-free, $200,000 life decisions at the same time. This thread criticizes those in the latter camp.
