Michigan has 8 optional essays of which you can write up to two of them. Which ones are people planning to write (http://www.law.umich.edu/prospectivestu ... /jdapp.pdf)

At the minimum, you should write numero uno. UM really wants to know why you think you are a good fit for them & why you think they are a good fit for you. The second essay allows a little more freedom for you to be able to express something interesting/memorable about yourself. I just tweaked my diversity statement and used it for topic number seven when I applied.

I did One (Why Mich) and Seven (DS), too. Some DSs might fit better under Essay Five, but I imagine most would fit under Essay Seven.

I only did a Why Michigan (1) and got in.
