How much does applying ED matter / give a boost to admission chances?

Is it anywhere near undergrad where it helps a lot?

It does matter for borderline cases, but its worth varies depending on the school.

However, it is not going to get you in anywhere where your LSAT/GPA do not already put you at least in play.

It also definitely "matters" because it practically guarantees that you will receive zero dollars of money.

This.

EDing these days isn't a terribly wise choice. Apps are down, thus schools are reaching further to fill their seats and handing out tons of money, even to applicants well under medians and even waitlisted applicants. If you ED, you’re basically giving the school an excuse to give you no money because you’ll have to attend regardless of other scholly offers.
