I have been out of undergraduate for 3 years, and by the time I attend law school, it will be 4 years. I have very good letters of recommendation from my work experience, however I have reason to believe my 2 professors' LORs are luke warm.

Do you suggest using 3 great work experience LORS or 2 great work experience LORS with 1 luke warm professor LOR?

I think you should include the academic letter. Variety is a good thing and adcomms prefer prof letters any way. Not sure where you applying, but some schools let you send in 4. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... zcnc#gid=0

I was out of UG a few years when I applied. I used one great WE LOR and one academic LOR from a TA (the only person I could think of from UG who would remember me well enough to right anything mildly personal). All my acceptances fell right in line with my numbers. I'd definitely use 1 academic one. You can save a WE one for WLs if necessary.

I am only one year removed from UG. I used two recommenders from extracurriculars, neither of whom are professors. My cycle fell right in line with my numbers. I think the whole "academic LOR is a necessity" is a myth.

The point is that your numbers matter far, far more than your recommenders.

I agree that it is not necessary. My LORs were both from work, and my cycle went fine too.
