Which schools are still accepting applications for Fall2012?

Yes, you heard me right - applications for this coming Fall of 2012, August / September 2012 start date. :D

This is not a flame post, btw.

I am a serious JD candidate who is targeting the T14 school range for the upcoming cycle, but I really need to have a physical offer of acceptance (from ANY ABA accredited law school, yes, even a TTTTTTTT - P/T or F/T program), even if I pay a deposit, defer or do not attend.

I don't want to get into specifics here, but this pertains to acquiring additional funding that I can claim from my employer's tuition reimbursement program.

Thanks in advance,

Nope, not at all.

Again, I don't want to get into specifics, but our company's tuition reimbursement program is not specifically for JD programs; it can also apply to employees seeking to pursue an MBA, PhD, etc. just that if one were to take advantage of it, they would get reduced hours and pay, and in lieu claim funding for "academic pursuits".

With an acceptance at hand, I intend to claim funding and 'better' my LSAT score during my time-off, and it would be no different had I transferred or deferred acceptance. My employer can not force me to go to a school that does not fall into my choice category.

I also ran this by an HR Manager. I wouldn't be wasting my time if I didn't.

Thanks,

Some T14 schools probably still have applications open on LSAC for fall 2012.

Thanks, guys. LOL @ FL Coastal. Brooklyn is a good pick.

Really?

But wait a sec - are these 1L applications or 2L transfer applications?

I think I might have a decent shot, even if it's a T14 (157 and 169 LSAT, so-so GPA, but several years of Fortune 500 work experience in product management roles including solid executive level and academic references). I know NU likes the experienced types (I will apply this coming cycle), but I am curious to know which T14s are still accepting applications. :P GULC part-time?

Thanks,

Apply to a state school, do the world a favor and don't do anything no matter how trivial to increase the USNWR stats of a festering TTT.

Alabama is a good choice if they are accepting.

Pretty sure no T14s are accepting apps.

I don't know what "so-so" GPA is, but you'd need something like a 3.5 or better for GULC with a 169, 3.7 for NU, and 3.4 for Cornell.

Really?

I highly doubt any school in the T14 is going to consider a so-so gpa and a 169 LSAT this late in the game. Please let us know if you get into a T14 in the next week though... the fastest decisions I know of are at UVA and I think they are even a 15 day turn around and that is for a binding ED.

Yeah zero chance of getting into a T14 this cycle.

Check that, less than zero

Edit: you're good to go for next cycle. Lower T14 is in play

UVA, Northwestern, Chicago all had Fall 2012 JD applications open last time I checked my school list on LSAC. I don't know if that means they'll accept them though...

ETA: Don't actually apply

If you apply to an ABA law school now and defer wouldn't your firm see that and not give you the money? If you don't defer, wouldn't you be in law school? If you apply to T14 schools for 2013 it would have to be either as a transfer or a drop out (unless you deferred which schools probably won't let you given what you want to do). Seems problematic either way.

there is no way these schools are accepting 1L applications this late, and even if they were I am willing tobet there are people on the WL with better stats than OP that these schools would rather take.

no school I know of other than TTTT's will accept applications right now.

If you're getting reimbursed from your employer, are you going to move into the legal dept or something? if so, it won't matter what school you get into right?

Otherwise, you should check w/ your employer about your "plan." This could be a negative ding on character and fitness if your employer finds out and reports you. If it's counter to your employer's policy, it's considered fraud. I don't know any employer that requires an "acceptance letter" to pay for LSAT prep...

Yeah, Rutgers immediately came to mind. You don't even have to apply and they will accept you.

Even if not fraudulent/illegal this seems like a great way to piss your employer off OP.

doubtful if he already cleared it with HR.

OP, Rutgers, IU-Bloomington, and most TTTTs are probably accepting. The TTTTs are where you stand a very decent chance of acceptance.

Campos just posted about it this morning btw, seems a solid half of the T5-17 are still accepting apps though whether they would actually receive consideration is another question.
