So I'm trying to narrow down my final list of schools for this cycle, and the difficulty I'm having lies in the fact that I want to apply to a short list of schools that will give me the potential to negotiate with mid-ranged T-14s for scholarship money later in the process. Basically, it's my goal to go to MVPBDN with $$ or get into a T6 (likely off the WL if I did) at sticker. However, I'm really not sure which caliber of school allows me to do this effectively, and that is where I am hoping the experience of TLS could help. Where are some schools that would consider giving a 3.63/170 some substantial $$$ to the point where I could negotiate little to no money from MVPBDN up to a decent chunk of change? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

IDK how useful of a bartering chip it will be, but you should be set for substantial scholarships from 19 down, at least.

Results will vary of course, but I would definitely advise getting all of your apps in day 1. I only managed one T-14 this cycle with 170 / 3.6, but I know LSN shows a number of people with comparable stats and small scholarships w/i the t14. I applied two months after apps came available though, and applied very late to a couple of others as an afterthought, which was stupid.

I will probably re-apply this round and have everything in Sep. 1 / earliest date available.

As you probably know, a 170 3.6 won't get much money inside the T14. It's median or below most of those schools.

If you get into Duke you may not get any money (only 25% of admits with your numbers got money, though it was a small sample size). If you get into Michigan, you'll probably get 30-45k (75% of admits with your numbers got money, averaging 35k).

I think you're looking at zero money at PBV if you happen to get in. CCN won't be interested in matching scholarships from those schools if you get in off the waitlist.

More directly to your question, you'll get half scholarships or more from outside the T14 (Vandy, WUSTL, etc.)

WUSTL will give you a ton of money but im not sure how lower T14s will look at that. Maybe you can get lower T14s to match a Vandy scholarship offer or at least give you something. That's probably your best bet.
