I was sniffing around the internet and found data published by Yale University, Stanford University, and some other schools on how applicants from those universities fared during their application cycles:
Yale:
http://ucs.yalecollege.yale.edu/sites/d ... istics.pdf
Stanford:
http://www.stanford.edu/group/SPLS/cont ... awdata.pdf
Johns Hopkins: http:// tiny url .com/c438s25
Emory: http:// tiny url .com/d928vvw (sorry, remove the spaces)
Do other schools publish this data? It's pretty useful, especially if you're an applicant from one of those schools.
An aside: The admit rate from Yale University to YLS is 25% and the average LSAT/GPA of admits is 173/3.86. It seems there's some kind of preferential treatment effect? And it looks like there may be something similar for Stanford undergrads applying to SLS.

statistically, legacy status can be as much of an admissions boost as URM status
but i wonder if it's more that the connections that get kids into yale university in the first place are also effective at getting them into yale law school

By legacy status, do you mean an applicant to a law school who went to the corresponding undergraduate institution?
e.g. a Yale undergrad who applies to Yale College?

nm mixed groups there
legacy status referred to people whose parents were alumni

At most schools you should be able to get this info from your undergrad.

Very interesting indeed. I wonder if Princeton has one of these datasets available. They would be interesting to compare to the other schools, since they attract good students for undergrad while not having a law school of their own.

Do children of YLS grads get legacy status for Yale undergrad?
