Counting "Y"s

Post by mewalke1 » Sun Jun 17, 2012 3:16 am

Does anyone know if LSAC counts a Y as an F ?

The school I went to as a freshman counted a Y (withdrawing while failing) as an F for gpa purposes. I understand that LSAC doesn't count Ws for anything. This is really worrying me as I transferred to another school and was just looking at gpa for my old school and its not as high as I would like because of the Y=F policy...Can anyone help me out here? Sorry if this has been posted before if it has can you point me to where it can be answered.

The school was a Community College if that makes any difference.

Thanks

LSAC counts all punitive Ws and WFs as Fs. They will count your Y as an F

Search for your undergrad to get a definitive answer.

Edit: I did a search for community colleges that grant Y grades and found Harrisburg (http://www.lsac.org/Members/TranscriptK ... 129999.htm). It looks like grades of Y are omitted from the LSAC GPA. Only YF grades count as Fs.

Withdrawing while failing seems like it would be punitive, so it'll probably count as an F.

You have to look up your specific school, though.
