How many letters really?

Post by iamcaptaindaddy » Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:39 pm

From what I've seen schools are asking for 2 letters, and LSAC says the max they send is 4. Is it acceptable to send 4 to every school I apply to?

On LSAC, each school will specify a minimum, maximum, and recommended. I suggest you follow those guidelines.

Only go over the recommended if A)the school's max is higher and B)the additional letter really says something different than the others.

They will let you have 4 so you can pick and choose which ones to send. The schools will tell you how many they accept and you can't send more than that (you literally can't, LSAC won't let you).

So, no, it is not acceptable (or possible) to send 4 to every school, but you might get a rare school that allows you to send 4. Most (if not all) probably don't want to read that much. Save the rest for LOCIs if you get waitlisted.
