Top Law Schools

Hi,

I have already gone through a couple of posts examining the weight of GPA / courseload difficulty and it seems that some people think that too high GPA with too easy courses is looked down upon. However, I am not quite sure what exactly are these too easy courses.

Currently, my situation is that I have 4.0 (probably a bit over 4.0 LSDAS-wise; I am going to be a junior next year; UC Berkeley; Psychology major) and I am just worried if I shouldn't take some more challenging courses. So far, I have just taken the prerequisites for my major and standard major requirements and whenever it was possible, I took the easiest option to satisfy certain requirement (e.g., taking intro writing course in an Italian department instead of an English one). I never took a math or hard science course at my university.

Do you think that the lack of difficult courses is going to count against me? I know that my classes won't give me a boost but I would like to know if they are specifically going to be regarded negatively in the law school admission process (i.e., do these qualify as too easy classes?).

No not an investigator lol, I just use my commonsense. Psych is a liberal arts major and you have to take a math and science. And since psych is more scientific you have to take a hard bio class and a hard math. Also my gf is a psych major and had to take dumbass calculus. No way uc heel is gonna let you get away with not taking a hard sci and math.

Yes, we do need to take stats for psychology but I took just stats 2 which is basically nothing -- does not even require calculus (the harder ones are stat 20/21), and the other classes which look like "science" are not science really... e.g., I took Bio for humanities majors etc. But then I guess that counts, right? That was in fact my question -- if taking just these easier variants of courses is not an issue.

I still think you are a troll, but yeah, law schools don't care. All they care about is gpa and lsat and everything else to a lessor extent. With a 4.0 170+ you can be a lawl school baller.

I was a Political Science/ English double major and didn't take a single math or science class in my 4 years. I was able to use my HS credit course for one, my high math ACT for another, or was able to take a test to test out of things like language and stat requirements. Some of these exceptions only the counselor will know.

It is very easy for many majors (even psych) to get out of “required” classes.



OP: nobody looks at what classes you took, they just look at GPA and maybe degree.

I certainly didnt say that you said everyone lies about stuff, nor did I say that you ever falsely accused someone of lying on this forum. Further, I said that not everyone lies. If your take away from that was that I believe that you think everyone lies, then I don't know what to tell you. I do believe, however, that the OP is not a troll. The OP was posting about easy classes she was thinking about taking, and that she might lack difficult courses ITE. Your critical analysis was completely unnecessary, whether she's a troll or not.

Also, who the fuck sent you as the search party to see if she needed math or science? The OP could have been doing a BA in psych, which would only require a lower level math and science classes that are "not hard". These things combined, plus a lot of your other posts, indicate that you're a fucking cynic.
