Not sure where to post this but since it is known that the health care field is booming, what exactly is health care law? Is it just suing the many fledgling doctors for negligence?

"Health law is the federal, state, and local law, rules, regulations and other jurisprudence affecting the health care industry and their application to health care patients, providers and payors, and vendors to the health care industry, including without limitation the (1) relationships among providers, payors and vendors to the health care industry and its patients; and (2) delivery of health care services; all with an emphasis on operations, regulatory and transactional legal issues"
google is your friend.
Just a small sample:
How are drugs developed
brought to market
approved by the fda
administered to patients
what rights do patients have for access to things like new drugs being clinically tested.
(you can look at the conlaw case about terminally ill patients seeking access to untested drugs, really interesting)

I work in the healthcare industry in the legal dept right now and we deal with Hitech and HIPAA a lot as well as general compliance with OSHA. I also live in CA so there are a lot of regulations related to physicians, patients, patient confidentiality, etc.

And, FTR, suing doctors for malpractice is generally not the bailiwick of healthcare law. That would be more torts/personal injury.
