Simple question about LSAC GPA... Please advise.

Post by Geetar Man » Wed Apr 04, 2012 1:57 pm

On my academic summary report, it says:

Undergraduate Summary
Degree (Summary) GPA: X
Degree Semester Hours:
Cumulative GPA: Y
Cumulative Semester Hours:
Nonpunitive "NC", "WF", and "Repeated" Course Credit Hours:

Which GPA are law schools going to be considering?

X or Y?

I'm going to assume its Y, since that's the cumulative. What worries me (not really worried) is that my Y GPA is higher than my X GPA, which is the opposite of a lot of people who say that their CumulativeGPA (Y) is lower than their degree GPA (X).

Thanks

My Y is larger than my X as well due to having some county college coursework aside my from degree granting institution coursework. Luckily, the schools only consider your Y.

Okay, so it's normal. I have some CC credits too, so I guess that's where the difference comes from. Thanks, IGF.

This poses and interesting question...what becomes of grades that you earn in community college coursework that you took postbac?

You're still supposed to submit the transcripts, but grades aren't factored in. Everything up until your first bachelor's degree is awarded--and nothing after that--counts.

Nothing, as those grades are no longer calculated into your LSDAS GPA. They only count your coursework taken prior to receiving your first bachelor's degree.
