Re: Worth it to throw late apps in to Penn/NU?

If I were you, I'd hold off until next cycle. If you feel confident in a 173, who knows? Maybe you got a 175? Maybe worse, a 171?

Wait until next cycle. Once you're in the 170s, one number is a gigantic difference between acceptance/rejection/sticker/big $$$.

Law school will be there next year, and you'll most likely (having worked through this cycle) be even more prepared for the next.

Either way, be excited, a lot of people would kill to be in your position. Congrats either way.

If you can spare the money, then it's a no brainer.

But yeah if that's an issue, hold off for another year, keep working (won't harm you for NU) and own it next cycle.

Yeah, I'm probably just going to see what Michigan gives me this cycle as that is one of my top choices anyway. If I feel like I underperform my numbers or could possibly get in to CCN next cycle (which I won't know until I get the LSAT results), I may try again next year. Thanks.

Applications are down in this cycle, by a lot. What that means is that schools, even or perhaps especially top schools, are going to be scrambling to protect their numbers. What that means for you is that if you just scored a 172 (say) then you could literally be the person who keeps NU's 75th LSAT percentile from dropping a point (it really does come down to a handful of admits at the margin for this stuff). What that would mean is that you would be worth a lot of money to NU, which you would discover by applying and getting a huge scholarship offer from them ten days later.

I'm not saying this will happen obviously -- I'm saying it could happen, and that you would be nuts to save $75 or whatever on an app instead of rolling the dice.

Also, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm pretty sure Penn requires different LOR when you re-apply... so if that could cause trouble, maybe you should wait on them.

I know my LOR were heinous to get and I would NEVER want to experience that mess again.

If you can pull a 173, I'd have your numbers exactly and I'm in at CCN. I say wait.
