Is it late?!

I'm still waiting on one teacher recommendation. The deadline for the one and only school I am applying to is February 1. Will I be able to meet the deadline?

Has your teacher sent the LoR yet?

Have they completed it?

As a last resort, try faxing it if it's still before the deadline. I know you are generally advised not to, but desperate times and all...

Also, is that deadline the deadline to submit or the deadline to COMPLETE? Important difference.

Just talked to professor and she sent it on Monday (although no mail that day).

On the school's website it says that Application and CAS report has to be in by February 1...

Law schools decide on applications on a rolling basis. Applying at the deadline is an awful idea. You're probably better off applying next cycle.

Yeah. Definitely dont apply this cycle. I don't know if you're '"screwed" or not, but your chances are much worse than if you applied sept-nov. Apply next year. You'll be working for the rest of your life. One year seems like a long time now. It's not.

I'm in the same boat. Hate my life.

Edit: Would you guys recommend not bothering at all, or applying and re-applying next cycle after we inevitably get rejected?

Decide if it's worth the app fee for you or not and/or if you would strongly prefer to begin school next Fall or could wait another year.

The worst they could say is no.

Whoa whoa whoa. Sure it's no good to be late in the game, but it's not as bad as all that, is it? It's not like applying late will take you from an auto-admit at your target to a WL at your safety. I got my apps in around January 15th. Did it affect my cycle? Yeah, it was probably a tiny bit worse than it would've been had I applied earlier, and pretty much killed my chance of getting into my reach. But I got into the 2nd-4th best schools I applied to with money.

I agree, to be honest UIUC shouldn't have been in the top 5 schools you applied to anyway

Ok, granted, I had no idea what I was doing, because no one gave me good advice and I didn't find TLS until very late in the process. But: 1) minimizing debt was very, very important to me; 2) I absolutely would not go to LS in a city, or in the South, or out West; 3) I absolutely did not want to wait a year; and 4) honestly, I didn't really want to be at a T14. I'm extremely happy. Only regret is not applying to Michigan and seeing what would've happened.

BUT... point taken; I probably shouldn't be giving advice on application dates. Rescinded.

Does it hurt to apply twice? Apply near the deadline for the hell of it.
They say, "no".
Apply for next year. Would a previous rejection hurt your chances?

Is it too late for NYU, Columbia, and other schools with Feb. 14 deadlines?

your chances are extremely low -
not to mention, the date you sent your apps does not mean you app is complete. LSAC takes time to send materials and the law school itself takes time to compile it... that's been my experience with applying this year.

unless your scores are within their 50% - 100% of their LSAT/GPA, it's probably not a good idea to apply..
