Asking for a fee waiver

Hi,

I know the question regarding fee waivers comes up every so often. Two target schools sent me fee waivers today. I am paying for the rest of the target and reach schools on my list, but there are three target schools (Northeastern, UMiami, and Villanova) that I am debating whether or not to apply to. With the other schools, I'm already paying a lot of money, and I'm wondering if it's worth a chance if I was to ask these three school if there's any way I could get a fee waiver.

-Can I do this?
-Can this count against me?
-What would I say in the email to each of these three schools, and what information should/would I provide them in the email?

Thanks so much for any information.

My emails were:

I am interested in applying to x school, do you offer fee waivers?

All but 3 schools said yes. All of those sent me need based apps, and I received them after filling the form out. I never emailed them my stats.

Here's the one e-mail I sent (I was denied a fee waiver and admission pending, but doesn't hurt to ask!)

Dear Admissions Office of X,

I am extremely interested in applying to X Law School, and I am writing to see if I could be considered for a merit-based fee waiver. My LSAT score is x, my GPA is x, and my LSAC Number is L31042161.

Thank you so much!

Ask for fee waivers! I applied to a total of 34 schools (too many, I know) and I asked each school for a fee waiver.

Dear (school),

I am interested in your school, I was wondering if your institution is offering merit based fee waivers, and if my numbers would qualify for one...

Gpa
L310#####

I ended up paying for 3 of my 34 applications.. I was shocked! The majority of the schools I applied to, I was at/below the 25th %..

Best of luck!
