hi,

i have several fee waivers that have been applied to my lsac account. I am getting ready to apply to schools, and I just received several emails from schools today saying that they would waive my fee. These are schools that I was going to apply to anyway; I do not want them to think I'm solely applying because of the fee waiver and am not serious. Is it ok to use the fee waiver and apply to this school. I don't want them to think I'm applying just because of the fee waiver and reject me to b boost their rejection stats. Thanks.

Huh? They don't analyze whether you used the waiver. Really??????

hopefully you're not serious, but on the small chance that you are... they can't tell whether you use a waiver or not.

think of it as a gift from the law school, to show that yes, they've heard of you, and yes, they like you at least a little =)

Why would schools send me this though? Do they want me to apply since I might not have otherwise done so (even though I would have) so they can reject me, or do I meet their stats and is it an indication of a chance of acceptance?

Fee waivers are in no way an indicator of whether or not you will be accepted or rejected/waitlisted. You are completely overthinking this.

A fee waiver means exactly one of two things:

1. Your numbers give you a chance at the school.
2. Your numbers give you no chance at the school.

If 1, the school benefits by possibly getting a qualified applicant to add to their incoming class.
If 2, the school benefits by getting a person to reject and pad their selectivity numbers, which factor into the USNWR rankings.


Don't overthink it.

maybe now every paranoid question possible has been asked

there will always be more questions, but at least people are asking beforehand and not making mistakes on their applications. =)

wouldn't that also be good for you since the school see that they waved your fee and know that your stats are either qualified (or really low... but that should be obvious)
